Winter Installations

Uploaded Image: /vs-uploads/blog/Snow-Example.jpg

With winter just around the corner, it’s no secret the weather can cause some conflicts with scheduling installations.

While we understand trenching and installing panels are not ideal tasks to complete during the winter months, Solar Foundations’ portion of the project is sometimes favorable during this season.

  • SFUSA crews can install our custom ground screws in any soil condition and the frost layer by pre-drilling pile locations with a rock auger or pre-drilling into solid rock or frozen ground with a custom down-the-hole hammer.
  • The frozen ground often makes driving on the grass with the truck, trailer, and machine, smooth. If you have a homeowner or business owner who is sensitive to potential lawn damage with our equipment, installing while the ground is frozen may be a favorable option worth pursuing. Please consider this option as the snow begins to melt in the spring and the ground becomes very soft and wet.
  • If your company is interested in having SFUSA install during the winter months, assuming the homeowner does not want to wait for the snow to melt, we have found that the best way to accomplish this. We suggest the homeowner, business owner, or solar company line up a local contractor for snow removal.
    • The array location, including 15 feet around the array area, and the access route must be plowed to safely install the project.

Importance of Specifying Shipping AddressUploaded Image: /vs-uploads/blog/Hardware-November_2021.jpg

As we continue working with more clients, we would like to take this opportunity to discuss the importance of shipping addresses. As part of our process, Solar Foundations USA will provide our clients with stamped structural drawings and upon request, hard copies. Prior to installation day, we will also ship out our UL2703 certified hardware pack, containing mounting hardware for easy panel installation. SFUSA will always confirm our client’s mailing address before shipment, but please make sure you have provided us with the correct location. As a reminder, SFUSA does not ship to the project site or to a P.O. box. This is to avoid the possibility of the package being lost or stolen. If your company has more than one location, prefers a specific address tailored to drawings and/or hardware, or has switched office locations, please let us know so we can reflect the updated location accordingly.

Contact our Operations Team for any updated client information.
